SPORTS

      The institution provides ample scope and facilities for the students for active scope and facilities for the students for active participation in sports and games. Students are participating in state level, Inter polytechnic Athletic meet for Tamilnadu and Pondycherry. Intramural sports are being conducted to enable the students to participate actively in sports and games. For the second and third year students weekly one hour is allotted for physical education during their class hours. Regular games classes are conducted for other students from 5.00 to 6.00 p.m.

100 Mts, 200 Mts, 400 Mts, 800 Mts, 1500 Mts, 100 Mts Hurdles, Long Jump. High Jump, Shotput, Discus, Javelin and 4 X 100 Mtrs relay.

Ball Badminton, Badminton, Basket Ball, Hand Ball, Volley Ball, Throw Ball, Tennicoit, Table Tennis, Kho-Kho, Carrom, Chess.

NSS

      Two units of N.S.S With a strength of 200 volunteers have been functioning since 1987-88. Every year N.S.S unit adopts nearby village and rural development activities are undertaken in these villages. N.S.S. volunteers concentrate on public hygiene, environment protection and spreading technology know how in these villages.

      N.S.S. volunteers are elligible for getting certificate if they serve 2 years with 240 hours of voluntary service and participate in one special camping programme.

Subject to conditions the following scholarship are granted to students.

  • National merit scholarship
  • Merit scholarship for teacher’s children
  • Backward class scholarship
  • Government of India merit scholarship to SC/ST students
  • State scholarship for SC/ST student (convert to Christianity)
  • Free education schemes for BC/MBC/DNC
  • Ex-serviceman scholarship

  • Adhoc merit grant for SC/ST
  • Scholarship for children of Beedi workers, mine workers, cine workers including contract labourers.
  • Thanthai periyar memorial scholarship
  • Farmers scholarship.

      Failure to make satisfactory progress in studies, misconduct such as resorting to or participating in strikes, irregularity in attendance etc, will result in automatic cancellation of scholarship, besides recovery of amount already paid as scholarship.

      All scholarship holders must necessarily put in 90% attendance to become eligible for scholarship. Only those students who have put in 90% attendance in the previous year are eligible for renewal of scholarship next year. Students who are receipt of one scholarship are not eligible for receipt of another scholarship during the same academic year. However, they may opt for advantageous one.

Attendance - ‘e’ Governance

      Students attendance percentage is maintained through ‘e’ Governance. The percentage particulars are sent to DOTE through e portal web site every month. Students can also view their attendance percentage through this web site www.tndte.com.

      Those students who has not put in 80% attendance in every month should give a undertaking in the prescribed form duly signed by parent. Also separate intimation will be send to the parent in a prescribed form.

      Students should secure 80% attendance at the end of each semester to become eligible for appearing board examination.

Library

      Library is housed in the first floor of the main building students shall take books from the library during the prescribed hours of working days seven periodicals are subscribed every year. Our library has a total collection of 15000 books in various subjects.

      Each students will be issued only three books at a time. In receiving a book the student should examine the condition of the book. If any damage is found she should bring it to the notice of the librarian. Otherwise she will be held responsible for the damage found on return of the book. Normally a student will be allowed to keep a book for 15 days.

      Strict silence should be maintained in the library.

SC/ST Book bank

      A book bank is separately functioning in the library. Text books will be issued to poor students as per rules. These books shall be returned after one semester/ Academic year.

Hostel

      The principal is the warden of the hostel. Warden is assisted by deputy warden and residential tutor. The warden is vested with full powers in the matter of administration and general discipline of the hostel.

Admission

  • Application for admission shall be made in the prescribed form which can be had at hostel office.
  • Admission will be made on the basis of merit of each application and no reason will be assigned for rejection of any application.

Rules

  • Hotel students are permitted to go home once in a month. Permission letters from parents should be received by the principal or warden.
  • The close relatives permitted by the parents are advised to mention the allowed to see the students. For this purpose parents are advised to mention the names of the relatives and their relationship to the students and it should be enclosed along with the admission application form itself, the photo of the relatives and the parents should be affixed in the identity card.
  • The relatives are allowed to see the students only on Saturdays and Sundays. The relatives including parents will not be allowed to see the students after 6.00pm.
  • The students should not converse with the parents or relatives who are visitors of other students.
  • The address of the local guardian should be mentioned for contact in the event of unexpected illness or for any other important purpose.
  • The mess charges of the previous month should be remitted on or before the 15th on the next month.
  • The students are strictly advised not to wear any precious of costly jewels during their stay in the hostel.
  • Those students who do not abide by the above rules will be expelled from the hostel.

Canada India Institutional Co-operation Project (CIICP)

      C.I.I.C.P. was started in this college during the academic year 2003-2004. Under this scheme various courses and programmers are being conducted regularly. The courses are meant for the various members of the society surrounding this institution, to meet their needs from an economic as well as a social point of view. The courses may lead them to a new of enhanced employment or income opportunities. A certificate is also issued to the successful participants starting the skill they have acquired in the course.
